Worm Habitat Range

The 'Worm Habitat' range is a low cost range designed and manufactured on the Sunshine Coast. Using existing locally available containers, such as the wheelie bins which can be easily retrofitted, means that much of the cost to design, develop and tool a new specially designed receptacle was avoided. This meant we could keep the costs of the Worm Habitat range very affordable.

The development and launch of our 'Worm Habitat' range of products has resulted from a lack of larger domestic and small commercial worm farms. The uniqueness of our products has resulted in design registration and patent protection in Australia. We have analysed significant organic waste streams which can be easily processed on site and developed targeted systems. The Worm Habitat for Dogs for example can process dog waste in an effective odourless environment. Approximately 80 000 tons of dogs waste is bagged and binned in Australia each year, so using worm farms to process this waste stream has an immediate positive environmental impact.

Our Worm Habitats (140 and 240ltrs) are designed for families, offices and schools, for example, and can process about 20kgs per week or 1 ton per year. These are low cost efficient systems allowing on-site processing of smaller waste streams

The WH1 comes complete with a perforated raised floor, drainage tap for dispensing nutrient rich worm juice, access hatch for easy casting harvest and 12 vents for good ventilation. Also included are a set of comprehensive instructions, and bedding block.

Design Features

Lids – easy to lift.
Vents – worms require an oxygen rich environment and the vents allow for air movement while keeping pests out.
Portholes - the screw-out porthole allows easy access to castings.
Perforated internal base - a suspended base allows liquid to pass through the system, and helps keep the castings oxygenated.
Tap - the simple to use tap has a hose fitting end and is positioned to allow easy drainage of all liquid.
Over-flow system - in the event of not decanting liquid it will overflow out the back fo the system so that your worms are not drowned.
